Working together for a more sustainable future

Our Story

In 1996 our family set up in business to help people find a smarter, cleaner and less wasteful way to update their kitchens. Over the years, we have helped improve over a hundred thousand homes and grown to become a multi million pound business which employs over 20 people.

In 2020 we transformed ourselves from being a family owned business into one which is majority owned by our employees, through an Employee Ownership Trust. This has helped secure not only the long term future of the business but has also resulted in all our team being far more committed to delivering the very best experience for you, their customer. Furthermore, you can rest assured that all our staff benefit equally from any profits that our business makes. In short, Employee Ownership has been a positive move for all our stakeholders: founding owners, staff, suppliers, and customers.

Since day one, our company ethos has always been about reducing waste and making the very best of Earths limited resources. This led us to set up Ecomodo as an emporium of sustainable ‘eco’ products, with a focus on sustainability, minimal packaging and zero unnecessary plastic.

On behalf of the whole Ecomodo team I’d like to thank you for taking the time to visit our website and hope that you’ll find everything that you’re looking for, and maybe even a little more beside.

2020

Looking to the future After 23 years of family ownership, the Founders decided it was time to consider the future ownership and direction of our business. Their primary aims were to provide a long-term legacy for their family, and to enable their staff to share in the success of the business that they helped to build. To this end, they decided not to sell the business to a third party, but instead to transfer the majority of our shareholding to an Employee Ownership Trust. Employee Ownership means our staff enjoy greater job security and gives them an equal share in the financial success of the business. This is great for the morale, motivation and the wellbeing of our team, and it helps us to attract and retain the very highest-calibre people.

2021

Kitchen Door Workshop has been helping its customers to reduced waste, mess and stress for 26 years. When we launched Ecomodo we wanted to do our part to sheperd Earths limited resources, in an ever-changing world. We hope you can find something you love in our shop, and in doing so help us make small changes, for a big impact. Working together for a more sustainable future.
