What types of items can I lend ?
Through Ecomodo you can pretty much lend anything you like from ..
- everyday objects such as an electric drill, hedge cutter, baby chair, tent, foot spa
- your skills such as guitar lessons, computer repair, gardening advice, DJ
- your spaces such as a garage, a car parking space, classroom, beach hut

How many steps are there to add an item to lend ?
There are 5 steps:
- What is it? Add a title and what type of item it is. Enter an amount and who the proceeds will be going to. (Yourself, a good cause, or for free)
- Describe your item. Write a description, state the condition of the item, choose up to 3 categories, add tags, decide who your item is available to and state if you have any special requirements.
- Set the price. Play with the pricing calculator to better understand how much it will cost to borrow your item over different periods of time. Select to have a deposit taken or include insurance. If you are donating your fees to a good cause you will be able to select it which good cause here.
- What's in the box / space / your expertise. Create a checklist of everything around your item. If it's an object state what's in the box. If it's a space state what facilities are available and if it's a skill list what expertise you bring. Your checklist can be printed for easy checking in and checking out of your item.
- Terms and Conditions. To finish you will need to agree to our terms and conditions.
How should I title my item ?
Help Borrowers find your item with a title that is clear, to the point and that uses descriptive keywords. Try not to use words like wow, small, big, or useful as these are not words commonly searched for.
You only have 35 characters so think carefully how you want to use them. The words from your title will also be used to create tags for your item.
What's the difference between an object, a skill and a space ?
An object refers to any everyday consumer product.
This could be anything from a ladder or a cooking pot to a lawnmower or popcorn maker.
A skill refers to your expertise, knowledge or practical ability.
This could be gardening advice, helping people with IT, ironing or even decorating a room.
A space is any physical location that you have access to and permission to lend.
This could be your garage, a beach hut, spare office space or a classroom.
I am not sure how much to charge for my item ?
This is a difficult question to answer so perhaps think about it like this ..
If you are lending an object think about how much you purchased the item for and choose an amount to lend for a day. Then multiply your daily cost to lend by 7 (a week).
If the amount for the week is more or nearly the amount you paid for the item then your daily rate may be too high.
When you add an item to lend we have provided you with a simple pricing calculator that works out different amounts for different lengths of time. And remember you can always adjust the price at any time.
Which time period should I set ?
This will really depend on what your item is and how long you think people will generally want it for. For example if it's a tent it is more likely that someone may want it for a week but a wallpaper stripper may only be needed for a weekend and some advice may only be needed for an hour. It doesn't matter which period you use when you come to the Set the price step in the process we will show you the difference in timescales.
What is the 'For Menu' ?
The "for menu" determines who the proceeds of your lend will go to. You can keep any earning for yourself, donate them to a good cause or lend for free (nothing).
What is a cause ?
A cause is something you are passionate about.
It may be your favourite charity, your PTA, a local community action group you belong to or even something very personal such as your grandson's education, retirement or a pamper session.
What is a good cause ?
Good causes are organisations that do good things. They can be registered charities or not-for-profit community groups such as PTAs, Scout or Guide groups, VCOs or sports clubs.
Ecomodo Lenders can choose to donate their fees to any good cause and once listed we will pass on any donations direct to the good cause.

tell us and we will contact them to confirm they are willing to receive donations through Ecomodo.
What is a personal cause ?
A personal cause enables Lenders to make known what they plan to do with any money raised from lending their items. They may be saving for their grandson's education, a wedding, a weekend away or even a well-deserved pamper session at the local spa.
Fees will be paid to the Lender, who will then need to earmark the money for their personal cause.
As a lender, what good causes can I donate my fees to ?
You can donate your hire fees to any good cause that is registered with Ecomodo.
If your chosen good cause is not yet listed, tell us and we will contact them to confirm they are willing to receive donations through Ecomodo.

Do I have to give the money to a good cause ?
No. When you add an item to lend you choose where your earnings go, so you can choose to keep it yourself.

What is 'Add items from a list' ?
If you have multiple items to add or need a little inspiration then use this button. You will be presented with a tick-list featuring all the places in you house where you may hide things away as well as skills you maybe able to offer or spaces you have access to. Simply tick the items you would like to add.
